OurTeam

Sponsorships continue to make a vital contribution to Musto's success.

We have always tried to develop relationships with athletes at all levels to help test and develop our technical clothing, enabling us to continuously innovate our products, so that we remain at the top of our game.

We are proud to associate ourselves with top athletes, grass roots organisations and key membership associations.  Their contribution at all stages of the product development process is invaluable – testing our product to extremes.

We take our relationships with our sponsored athletes very seriously and are constantly supporting them to perform at their very best through the product we offer.

Below we’ve detailed a few of the sailors, riders, shooters and organisations that help us develop, promote and wear our products.

Sailing

The Sailing Team

Musto is proud to support many of the world's most successful sailors through a wide range of sponsorships from grass roots sailing in the International Optimist Class to the big offshore adventures such as the Vendée Globe and Volvo Ocean Race.  In 2009, the maxi-trimaran Banque Populaire smashed the North Atlantic record - all wearing Musto gear!

Musto has also had a long relationship with Ellen MacArthur since setting off on her first voyage at 17 to her current exploits with the Offshore Challenges Sailing Team - including the accolade of becoming the fastest solo sailor around the world in 2005 aboard the trimaran B&Q.  We have now extended this support to The Ellen MacArthur Trust inspiring young people's recovery of cancer through organised sailing voyages.

In 2010 we launched our Official Skandia Team GBR collection, inspired by what the team wear and designed in our patriotic colours.  Show support for our national team, as a percentage of all sales from the range goes directly to the athletes.

We are also pleased to announce the sponsorship of the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy (WPNSA) the venue for the sailing events for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

When it comes to cutting-edge performance, the new Vestas Sailrocket will launch in the UK summer 2010 and all at Musto will be watching intently to see the world speed record broken.

Also worth celebrating, the high performance sailing dinghy – the Musto Performance Skiff – has grown from strength to strength and this year will celebrate its 10th Anniversary with a limited edition ‘platinum' boat.

Equestrian

The Equestrian Team

The World Eventing Champion Zara Phillips joined the Musto Team in 2009.  Zara has had many achievements to date including European Gold Medalist 2005, World Gold Medalist 2006, and BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2006.  In our Autumn/ Winter 2010 range we have launched the ZP176 Collection which is designed, developed and tested by the royal equestrian.

This collection is an 8 piece range of jackets, gilets, sweats and fleeces, designed for use down the stables but also stylish enough to wear on the high street.

Musto is proud to sponsor World No1 event rider William Fox-Pitt.  William has had numerous four-star victories during his career most notably during 2008 with wins at Luhmuhlen and Burghley to add to his team bronze in Beijing.

William's Olympic team mate, Kristina Cook has been supported by Musto for a number of years.  In 2008 she had a fairy tale year coming off the reserve bench to clinch Olympic individual and team bronze with Miner’s Frolic.

Matthew Wright is a determined rider and one to watch for the future.  He was a member of the silver-winning team at the Young Rider level and is a member of British Eventing's World Class Programme, with horses competing at novice through to four-star level.

All of our riders are focused on national and international four-star events for 2010 plus preparing for selection and the upcoming 2012 London Olympics.

Shooting

The Shooting Team

In 2010 we signed treble Commonwealth Gold Medallist Charlotte Kerwood as our latest brand ambassador to help promote shooting apparel.  The partnership, which is due to run until after the 2012 Olympics, will see Charlotte assist Musto in developing and testing new products in both the clay and game shooting ranges.

Charlotte, 23, first struck gold aged 15 in the Shotgun Double Trap at the 2002 Commonwealth Games.  She went on to win double gold at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, claiming a gold medal in both the Double Trap Singles and Pairs competitions.  Off the back of her Commonwealth success Charlotte was selected for Team GB to compete at the Beijing Olympics, where she finished 16th.  Her ambition now lies in winning Olympic gold on home soil in 2012.

Kerwood commented: “I am hugely excited to have partnered with Musto, who in my opinion have always produced the most technologically advanced shooting apparel.  I very much look forward to working with Musto’s development team to test their new product and help Musto continue to push the boundaries in technical clothing.”

Musto and the world-renowned West London Shooting School (WLSS) have been working closely together for almost 10 years on product development.  Their instructors have proved to be the perfect test team – out in all weathers and each teaching over 300 days a year.

Musto also work closely with the Clay Pigeon Shooting Association (CPSA).  Their elite instructors have selected products from our technical, casual and footwear ranges.

Shooting Ambassador: James Haskell

James Haskell is one of England's top rugby stars as a flanker, with the ability to play in all positions across the back-row. He was brought up in the Berkshire countryside and has been interested in country sports pursuits all of his life. Having always worn Musto clothing when on the shooting ground, it made perfect sense for him to join the Musto Team as an official ambassador.

He’s represented England at every level from U18s to seniors, currently holding the record as the only player to appear in every match for the U21 age group team in two successive seasons. Aged just 18, he played his first professional season as the youngest member of the Wasps senior squad helping them to win the Zurich Premiership and went onto win 73 caps for the Wasps before joining top French club Stade Francais in 2009. His international debut came at just 21 in the 2007 Six Nations championships against Wales and he now has over 30 senior international caps.

As a professional sportsman passionate about shooting James’s competitive nature and analytical approach will ensure we get great product feedback. To find out more about James and his shooting hospitality business, follow him on Twitter or visit www.rcukcountry.com.
