Congratulations to François Gabart and Armel Le Cleac’h

Musto would like to congratulate François Gabart and Armel Le Cleac’h for two outstanding performances in the 2012/2013 Vendée Globe Race, achieving 1st and 2nd place respectively.  It has been an exciting cat-and-mouse chase to follow, and the closest ever finish with just 3 hours 17 minutes and 14 seconds separating the two skippers’ arrival into Les Sables-d’Olonne.

Armel commented on his race: “If I could choose between winning the Vendée Globe and beating the record, I’d choose the win, of course. Finishing second is a disappointment but I’m still proud of what I did, it’s not like I finished 5 days behind François. It’s been a very close race between the two of us. I’ve analysed and understood what happened, I’ll think about it a little bit more in the near future, and I’ll learn from that. I’m 99% happy with my race.”

The Vendée Globe is a brutal race and Musto recalls the misfortune of Vincent Riou, Jérémie Beyou and Samantha Davies who were forced to drop out in the early stages of the race.

Musto ambassadors Mike Golding and Dominique Wavre are still racing up the Atlantic near the Cape Verde Islands.  Watch this space for news of their arrivals into Les Sables.
