In the Press: MPX Race Smock

Our MPX Race Smock was put to the test in the latest issue of Motorboat & Yachting magazine, out now:

‘I wasn’t sure how I’d get on with a smock but I have to say I was thoroughly impressed.  It’s incredibly durable, well built and offers the kind of felt-lined zip pockets and waterproof cuffs you’d want from a proper all-weather item.  It comes in sizes small to extra large with a variety of colours to choose from and is much more stylish than some other hulking jackets.

For those who like traditional front zip jackets, there are some in the MPX range too.  But be warned, I found the smock top actually warmer than most jackets, and with a waterproof adjustable strap at the bottom, it didn’t ride up as some coats do.  It wasn’t too bulky and came into its own when we were buffeted by a particularly parkie wind too, with the high collar protecting neck, ears and face.  It’s on the pricier side, but it’s a quality piece and you won’t need much more kit.  Great for offshore trips or for those cold mornings crewing.

Musto is expensive, but I agree with the writer that it’s worth it and you get what you pay for! I have an old mpx smock from about five years ago, which I use for about 4 weeks every year and as long as you rinse it down properly after it gets sprayed it remains in good condition!
