Menswear & Pitti Uomo review
After exhibiting for the second time at the fashion industry fair Pitti Uomo earlier this year, we were featured in industry rag MWB including a review of our upcoming S/S12 collection and one of our men’s tees was chosen as a favourite summer holiday item:
‘Firing up for Firenze
The 80th edition of Pitti Uomo will give us the first real glimpse of the trends and key looks to expect from s/s12. Tom Bottomley makes this pick of the labels to watch.
MUSTO’s fresh design focus
The revitalisation of the 46 year old British sailing brand is now under way, with design consultant Joe Baker Design drafted in to give the collection an edge for s/s12 (actually, its intial input was for a/w11, but let’s not split hairs here). This collection sees a significantly bolder move into the menswear market for the brand, as Joe Baker has a strong track record in working with a variety of brands, especially brands with a strong sporting heritage.
MUSTO showed at Pitti Uomo for the first time last season, and S/S11 further illustrates the focus on the quality of the fabrics and design. It’s largely looking at MUSTO’s credible heritage as a sailing brand, and bringing the story of Olympic silver medallist Keith MUSTO’s sailing feats to the lifestyle range. Performance outerwear and nautical knitwear are two strong areas that should give MUSTO a fresh appeal to buyers attending the show.’
