Seahorse sailor of the month: Jose Cusi
MUSTO sponsors a ‘sailor of the month’ competition column in Seahorse magazine, and we thought we’d share the results with you. Every month we give away an Evolution Soft Shell Jacket incorporating style, performance and fleece lined GORE-TEX® fabric technology to the lucky winners.
December’s winner is JOSE CUSI (ESP):
‘Wow, some postbag. ‘A sailing legend and really the best owner’ – Pedro Campos; ‘Just a fantastic man’ – Dean Barker; ‘The best guy I’ve sailed with’ – Alberto Viejo; ‘The best!’ – Alejandro Varela, Pachi Rivero and numerous others; ‘The Bribón team will be sorely missed’ – Ian Walker; ‘The biggest sailing supporter in the Med’– Hartwell Jordan; ‘40 years at the top, José deserves this award’– Iker Martínez; ‘Spanish sailing owes you a lot’ – Nacho Postigo.
NIKLAS ZENNSTROM (SWE)
What shall we choose for basing this on…Zennström’s win at the final Audi MedCup round, as an owner-driver racing against some of the best professional helms, winning a second Fastnet back to back, doing the same with a second Maxi world title? To prepare for his MedCup campaign Zennström spent a chilly British winter practising steering on his Farr 45. The Skype co-founder does few things by halves
DENEEN DEMOURKAS (USA)
Yet another one of last month’s winner Cameron Appleton’s happy customers, Deneen finally collected an overdue Farr 30 world title last month in San Francisco with the help of the quiet Kiwi tactician. This is doubly deserved since Demourkas has fought like a tiger to resurrect the Farr 30 (formerly Mumm 30) class since becoming its president. The 30 is still a great little boat and is again back in safe hands.
