GORE-TEX Fabric Technology

GORETEX Fabric layers
Widely regarded as the ultimate fabric for outer garments, it is the most durably waterproof and highly breathable
material available. The GORE-TEX® membrane is used either as a drop liner between the inner and outer garment
layers, as an inter liner or as an outer shell fabric as in the new Equestrian Innovation Soft Shell Riding Jacket.

GORE-TEX® fabric is the most widely recognised name when it comes to fabric technology. MUSTO and Gore have been working together in the development and application of performance clothing fabrics for many years. Widely regarded as the ultimate fabric for outer garments, it is the most durably waterproof and highly breathable bi-component material available.

At the core of the fabric is an expanded (ePTFE) membrane with 9 million pores per square inch. Water droplets cannot penetrate this microporous surface, making the fabric waterproof. The 9 million pores per square inch do however allow water vapour molecules in the form of perspiration to escape in the most efficient way from the inside, thereby ‘breathing out’ body moisture. The GORE-TEX® membrane is used either as a drop liner between the inner and outer layers of fabric e.g. the Highlands Jacket, or as a stretch inter liner as is the case with the Sporting Jacket. All have taped seams.

Used either way, one of the many advantages of GORE-TEX® fabric is that it is machine washable making it easy to care for without diminishing its performance in any way.

1) Wind & water completely blocked
2) Body moisture vapour passes through ePTFE micropores
3) Outer shell with DWR finish
4) GORE-TEX® ePTFE membrane
5) Inner liner
6) Oleophobic (oil repelling) coating
