Polartec® Fabric Technology
Established in 1906, Polartec® started its journey as Malden Mills, providing wool knits to soldiers through two world wars. It has since developed and Polartec® has been a go-to fabric for outdoor enthusiasts for decades. With proven durability, lightweight warmth and fast-drying characteristics, the technology is reliable and most importantly, warm.
What Is Polartec®?
Polartec® is a soft, breathable fabric that delivers warmth without the weight. The high loft of the fibres traps warm air for effective insulation outdoors. Hydrophobic Polartec® fibres repel water for quicker drying times. This ensures greater warmth and comfort.
BENEFITS OF POLARTEC®
The different types of Polartec® Fleece
The original Polartec®, this material is still the benchmark of lightweight performance fleeces. Durable, warm and breathable, it provides comfort without the bulk. Available in a variety of fleece weights, the benefits of Polartec® Classic is that it caters for all adventures. With hydrophobic properties, Polartec® Classic technology has the ability to repel water, combat saturation and dry quickly.
Polartec® Power Stretch®
Polartec® Power Stretch® combines warmth with 4-way stretch. This ensures freedom of movement and an ergonomic fit that retains its shape. Breathable and durable, you'll stay dry and warm. Developed from the Classic range, Polartec® offers durability combined with freedom of movement. Utilising elastic fibres, Polartec® created a fabric that can handle demanding physical activity. The technology retains valuable warmth and durability, which is especially beneficial for even the most challenging expeditions.
Polartec® Power Dry®
Polartec® Power Dry® delivers superior moisture wicking so you stay dry, warm and comfortable even during high energy activity. Unlike other fabrics, Polartec® Power Dry® has the same lifespan as the fabric, meaning the technology doesn’t weaken after frequent use and washing. Polartec® Power Dry® material pulls moisture away from the skin, where it can then evaporate. This eliminates any possibility of the fabric sticking to skin when it gets wet. Being fast-drying means that this technology thrives in wet climates, whilst remaining breathable, easy to care for and extremely light weight.
