Ventile® fabric, the key material in our new Ventile® Arctic PrimaLoft® Parka, was the life-saver of 80% of WWII RAF fighter pilots’ lives after they bailed into the open ocean in freezing temperatures. The fabric kept them warm and dry extending life expectancy from just a few minutes to 20 minutes.
Also worn in the early days of Everest Summit bids, Ventile® was an integral part of the kit used by Sir Edmund Hillary and his team when they became the first climbers to reach the summit of Mount Everest on 29 May, 1953.
This fabric made heroes, and Ventile® suits can still be found in modern day Tornado Jets, RAF and NATO air forces.
Ventile® goes back as far as the 1930s. With a war looming and traditional waterproof fabrics made with flax in short supply, an alternative had to be found. Ventile® was born. Made from the finest 100% natural cotton fibres, only found in 2% of the world’s crop, ventile is woven in such a way that makes it weatherproof, windproof and breathable.
The Musto Ventile® Arctic PrimaLoft® Parka combines the weatherproof qualities of Ventile® fabric and the insulating power of PrimaLoft® Gold Down Blend with our Ocean Engineered design to make an exceptionally warm, waterproof and breathable jacket. It is even capable of withstanding -30°.
These jackets are limited edition pieces. Only 100 men’s and just 50 women’s Ventile Arctic PrimaLoft® Parkas have been made. Each one of the jackets is numbered so your Ventile® Parka will be completely unique.
