Celebrities set sail for BT Sport Relief Challenge: Hell on High Seas
Musto ambassador Ian Walker is set to skipper a Volvo Ocean Race 65 boat around the British Isles alongside a 15-strong team of celebrities and VOR sailors in aid of Sport Relief.
The Volvo Ocean Race champion will be joined by Alex Jones, Suzi Perry, Angelica Bell, Ore Oduba, Doon Mackichan, Hal Cruttenden and Dan Markham as they take on their #HellOnHighSeas Challenge, as revealed on BBC’s The One Show last night.
The team will set sail from Belfast on 07 March and are expected to finish on 11 March. Champion skipper Ian will be putting his crew through their paces throughout the sailing passage. The skipper and crew on onboard will be wearing kit provided by Musto.
The celebrities will be removed entirely from their comfort zones so wearing the best kit is vital. With offshore conditions looking potentially stormy for the week ahead, our Musto kit will support the celebrities and their cause in every way possible (sea sickness tablets not included, but recommended!)
Each crew member will be taking our HPX Ocean Boots, HPX Pro Smock and Trousers, HPX Pro Drysuits, Extreme Thermal Trousers, Extreme Thermal Tops, Winter Gloves and of course Waterproof Luggage, to ensure they are always protected, however high the seas…
Musto ambassador Ian Walker admitted it was going to be a tough challenge for the sailors and celebrities: “In the UK in March the sea is very cold and with Northerly winds forecast, the air temp will be freezing – especially at night. We will need all of Musto’s clothing technology to keep us warm.
Cash raised by Sport Relief helps to raise money for people living incredibly tough lives so I am really pleased to be helping out the celebrity crew.”
Live updates of the challenge will be aired on BBC’s The One Show each evening. You can also follow us on twitter for all the latest challenge updates as they happen.
