Oliver Wheeldon’s photography adventure in Scotland with Vertical Shot Expeditions
Despite thousands of incredible entries for our #MustoVse photography competition, there could only be one winner. Oliver Wheeldon was that lucky winner and got to enjoy the prize of a lifetime sailing around Scotland with our friends at Vertical Shot Expeditions.

“After setting sail from Oban and finishing the first leg of our journey to the Isle of Skye, we made anchor in Loch Aline. En route we passed castles, cliffs and waterfalls under an ever threatening cloud cover. However the weather was kind and remained rather calm.
We settled in for the night and hoped to be woken by a brilliant sunrise in the mirror-like waters of the Loch.
The Isle of Skye was very kind to us the next day. A near full day of sunshine, which made for picturesque sailing and fantastic exploring. I had wanted to visit here for many years and was not disappointed.
It definitely seems like the best way to see it all is by boat! To wake up with a view of the mountains, make our way to shore and hike to the summit before sailing on to the next amazing island is a day I won’t forget.
After the Isle of Skye we headed back south to the Isle of Canna, which meant another opportunity to enjoy the weather sailing in this beautiful part of the world.
We made it in time to set anchor, have dinner and land for a sunset shoot, exploring the islands nooks and crannies to find the best angle to catch the colourful view.
As usual when in search of those epic shots, sleep is cut short in pursuit of the sunrise light. This is the photographer leader Lars Schneider surveying the scene of yachts, waves and cliffs as we’re greeted by the rising sun for another beautiful day in the Hebrides.
Thank you to Musto and Vertical Shot Expeditions for such an unforgettable opportunity!”
