Behind the Scenes: Our AW16 Shooting Campaign

Be the first to take a sneak peek behind the scenes on our latest Shooting photoshoot.

Last month we headed to the spectacular grounds of Pentillie Castle in Cornwall to shoot our Autumn/Winter 2016 Shooting and Footwear Collection.

The Pentillie estate was built in 1698 and covers 2,000 acres of undulating land in the heart of the Tamar Valley. Boasting ancient gardens, woodlands and parklands, the estate offered an incredible setting for our latest shoot.

In addition the location, which features in Shooting Gazette’s ‘Top 10 Pheasant Shoots’, is renowned for presenting high, fast and challenging birds – ideal for the dynamic shots we were after.

The morning started with a hearty breakfast in Pentillie’s beautiful dining room, followed by a traditional sip of sloe gin before setting off into the woods for drive one.

Our shooting experts Mike Payne, John Rogers, Dave Lewis, Lucinda Dungarvan and Rob and Sarah Tetley were on hand throughout to certify the authenticity of the shoot and educate our models and photographers on gun safety, gun mounting and shooting etiquette.

The morning shoot was a great success, as we captured the new Musto Shooting Collection in action amidst shots of birds in flight, smoking barrels and excitable dogs picking up. Unsurprisingly it didn’t take long for our team to build up a big appetite for lunch.

To our delight we were greeted a traditional shoot lunch in the bathing hut courtesy of Sammie Coryton and her team at Pentillie, with homemade scotch eggs, sausage rolls and hot soup to warm everyone up. The hut overlooking the River Tamar certainly provided a wonderful respite before we got back to work.

The afternoon saw more outfit changes and several rounds of beating to get the birds awake and airborne. At 5pm as the sun started to fade our last shot was taken amongst the Kale fields.

The dogs enjoyed a rewarding dip in the stream whilst the models and experts battled to take home their favourite pieces from the new shooting collection. Tired but satisfied, we all jumped in the Land Rover and headed back to the castle for a celebratory toast before heading home.

A big thank you to our shooting experts, Sammie Coryton and the staff at Pentillie for hosting us and Marc Megilley for helping to organise the location.
